Steve James

Steve James, based in Austin, has become known internationally as a prime exponent of contemporary American roots music through nearly non-stop touring, numerous recordings (solo and in support of other artists), books, videos and articles...notably for Acoustic Guitar and Homespun Tapes.  Also reknown as a raconteur, Steve livens his shows and presentations with anecdotes accrued during a lifetime of "spankin' the plank".

Since the release of his "Boom Chang" CD in the summer of 2000, STEVE JAMES has toured the U.S. coast to coast with side trips to Canada and Mexico for festival dates, and three tours of Europe which took him from the U.K. to Hungary, and from Scandinavia to Italy. In June of 2001, he was heard on over 450 radio stations worldwide when he was invited to appear on "A Prarie Home Companion".

Acoustic Guitar/String Letter published "Inside Blues Guitar", Steve's second book for them, along with several articles and lessons. "Learn to Play Blues Mandolin", featuring Steve with guitar support from John Sebastian, was added to the Homespun Tapes catalog alongside his previous guitar video.

In addition, Steve has taught at guitar clinics and music camps throughout the U.S.
