| I was at mr. Kurts BBQ! He served a delicious Jalapeno Chicken. I was at IGS NY99 and Martins performance at the instructors concert the first night took everything I knew or thought I knew about what playing a guitar sounded like and dumped it all out onto the floor. And I loved the dark side! |

What a formative time. The taxi driver left me off at the prescribed address, and I got out of the taxi looking for Columbia Univ. The taxi driver smiled and had me make a 180 degree turn.....and there... appeared the gates of the University. I smiled and gave him his most generous tip of the day and strode forth.....regaining my orientation and limited confidence.
A chap from Germany tried to help me with my guitars as I readied myself to cross the street (Edmund Punch) (didn't know him or trust him at the time) or else.....a fellow by the name of Martin Simpson crossed the street with me. I asked him if he was a student headed to IGS HA! I'm off to a great start.
The week built confidence that continues to this day. Sharing the communal bathroom with John Cephas.......him singin in the showers......he sounded a tad bit better than rev bill! John waking me up at 2:00 a.m. while he argues with some poor chap about religion. Bob B. tellin me later that John has some strongly held feelings. Later John lost his toe to diabetes and proclaimed "I'll see my toe in heaven!"
Ride'n the elevator with Bob and Haley... and then Bob confides in "Rev. Bill" "supposin I ought to marry this gal?" I reflect and say "she seems to be showing some fondness and affection toward you."
Later in the week during the student concerts, I'm feeling embolden enough to be the first on stage. After the performance....Bob B. is bowing down to the first student graduate! I'm flushed with confidence and appreciate for the camraderie shown by this amazing group of facilitators and instructors. At the Jefferson Hall of Journalism..it states "Hold fast to the spirit of youth...and let the years do as they may."
My gratitude abounds.

| Been hangin' around on and off this forum for about...yes...10 years, now that I think about it! Learned a lot and used to enjoy THE DARK SIDE, before it transformed itself into the WILD WEST SIDE(eheh). |
