I am looking for folks to jam with in NJ/NY. Something to give us a chance to improvise and play things real-time.

Hey Paul, I live in Rockland County and I love to jam. The rest of this year is going to be way busy, but I am usually able to free up some time on the weekends. Also, every Sunday night I co host an open mic night in Pearl River. There may not be any chiken wire in front of the stage, but it is fun no the less.

Let's set something up. Perhaps once or twice a month. We should pick an evening that works for all, then figure out the best location.

I think waiting until after the holidays is a good idea, but let's definitely start something in Jan. 2000. That's if we don't get Y2KO'd.

On another topic, Paul, is there a spell checker on this thing?

Is it too late to get in on this group? I live in Brooklyn. Would be happy to host sometime too...wife and cats permitting.

Right! Let's get going. We can get a great jam session going with all these lines of communication open.

Let's decide on a night, then we'll pick a location. Monday is no good for me. Let's also rule out Fri & Sat.

Any votes for a Tue, Wed, Thur, or Sun in January?

Let's get something going at least once a month. It'll be great. We could even decide ahead what we'll jam on.

OK, sounds like we are ready to rumble!

Since there are many of us I am just going to suggest a plan to start with and we can adjust as we go.

How is Wed Jan 26 to start with? 7pm?
Paul Schneyer, if your offer still stands can we meet at your place in NYC?
For tunes let's try:
O' Glory - Gary Davis
Texas Blues in A - Woody
Weepin' Willow - Blind Boy Fuller
Cold Rainy Day - Big Bill Broonzy
Shave em Dry - Woody mix
Walkin' Blues - Slide

No pressure, if you know them fine, if not we'll show each other. Let's make it about learning, practicing and having fun with friends! Email me to RSVP so we can exchange details mailto:paul@paulheumiller.com

Hey cool!

Good to hear from you Paul. That time works for me. And I like the list of tunes.

We'll see what happens with the location. If nothing comes up, my house in Suffern is always available.

Roberto, I hope you can make it too. A weekday evening is much easier for me. The weekends are wild busy these days.

Well, I will make one of the future sessions (or more)...definitely. This trip with my wife is something I have been looking forward to for a while, so I won't cancel it.

I am doing the weekend workshop with Woody this Saturday, which should help me out a bit with our little group. I haven't played with other people much, so my getting some tips on jam session etiquitte, etc. will probably make things easier on all of you. See you all soon. I can make the week nights work.

This sounds like the perfect cure for my "practicing by myself blues". I'm a former guitar and music theory student of Woody's both private lessons and at the New School. I guess I'm an intermediate level player. It would be great to meet other blues enthusiasts, learn jamming techniques and I know "O Glory". How about adding "Sally, Where'd You Get Your Liquor From" -Rev. Davis to the jam tune list. 7pm on Jan. 26 is good for me. I'll send an RSVP now.

Wow,I haven't checked this site in a few weeks.I've been dying to get together with other blues enthusiasts. I attended one of Woody's workshops and so I picked up a few of the tunes mentioned above. I also play slide, walking blues is one of my favs. I live in Northern Westchester and wouldn't mind hosting as well. email: rszb@msn.com. Let's jam my blues brethren!

NY/NJ Jam #2!!!!!! Are you ready to rumble!!

Let's go for Friday February 25. Email me if you can attend, paul@paulheumiller.com.

Location is NYC. (email for details)

Everybody bring a capo so we can work on playing different parts more!!

Let go with these tunes:

1. Slow Blues in D (Woody Mann, 12 bar blues similar to Mr Johnson's Blues)
2. Dirty Business (Mississippi John Hurt)
3. Nobody know you when you're down and out(in honor of John Cephas!)
4. Saturday night Rub(Big Bill Broonzy)
Let's also redo:
5. Weeping Willow(Blind Boy Fuller)
6. O' Glory(Rev. Gary Davis)

I think repeating 1 or 2 tunes each time with help us solidify our play list. See you there!!
