Guys, The way I see it is that there are three choices, 1: You can ignore abusive posts. (Works for me) 2: You can tip-toe around them like you're walking on egg shells. (Seems popular). 3: You can wade into the mire at the risk of having your leg bitten off. Lotsa Luck, D. [This message has been edited by David M (edited 10-05-2004).] IP: Logged |

For instance, this thread, which quickly devolved into a group of people seeing who can say naughty words in a number of different ways. I chose to ignore this thread, and not read or post to it. IP: Logged |

CRB, I don't even know why we're having this conversation, as I'm not even checking this thread. That is my puppy, by the way (everyone needs a Black Dog - where would Led Zep and Nick Drake be without them?). He's fresh from having a "procedure" at the vet. IP: Logged |

Bill, perhaps the towers might still be standing if you hadn't voted for the most unintelligent president of any country ever in the first place. IP: Logged |

It's pretty obvious that all the soldiers who have been send out to Afganisthan and Iraq after 9/11 and have lost their life have made the world a safer place, have dramatically reduced the threat of terorrist attacks and have created positive feelings towards the USA. Kay IP: Logged |

Mr. Mando........ Since the first attack on the Towers occurred on the Clinton watch, and the planning stages for the final 9/11 attack also occurred on the Clinton watch, can I assume you are trying to fix blame on one man or are you just regurgitating political rheotoric? Consider the fact that many of the terrorists we should be concerned about have been in this country as sleepers for several years and you have a real dilemma when trying to pin blame on any one president. Add to that the fact that many of our allied nations are both hot beds for terrorist recruitment and financing and you really have a great choice of folks you could give the hairy eyeball. I have no problem with political philosophies as long as you don't get retarded or paranoid about it...............B. Ryan IP: Logged |

Seems to me that National players make fine soldiers. We carry around a 40 pound guitar, which can deflect bullets and shrapnel, makes a fine club for smiting enemies, and can be melted for use in the manufacture of many weapons. It shines, and can be used to blind the enemy or send signals in Moorse code. it can be cut and filed into bayonets or make about 50 shives. Several Nationals can be leaned together to make a bullet proof tent. Historically, didn't I read in Bob's book that the original National factory was taken over by the government and used to make bomb shells during WWII, or something like that? So Nationals have that history, which clearly passes symbiotically to National players, appealing to our inner war-monger. Of all musicians, I think National players probably make the finest soldiers, besides Ted Nugent. IP: Logged |

That was the Light Crust Doughboys, ca. 1938 and the style is called Western swing. Check out Bob Wills, Spade Cooley, Milton Brown and his Musical Brownies, Hank Penny, Roy Newman and his Boys, Smokey Wood, Cliff Bruner, and Adolph Hofner for more of this style. IP: Logged |

BluYanqui, as I'm sure you know, the best time for an attack is when the enemy is weakest. I'm discussing politics a lot with friends from Turkey and Egypt and they all tell me that a moronic president means that the country is very weak and that the terrorists just waited for a weak moment. I don't mind you're being republican by the way, and I appreciate your intelligence, but don't you all deserve someone smarter in the White House?? IP: Logged |

Blueyanqui Respect your view, but would respect it more if you were better informed. The roots of our problems with terrorism go back well before the Clinton administration, which before and after the first attack on WTC had spent more money on terrorism and reacted more quickly and more strongly than any president BEFORE or SUCCEEDING Clinton. The Clinton adminstration undeniably had Homeland security and reform of intelligence moving in the right direction. The Bush administration stopped this progress, from the moment Bush took office, in its tracks due to its obsession with Iraq and Sadaam Hussein. One of Bush's first instrutions to Richard Clarke, the Security Chief, who basically ran the USA in the first 24 hours after WTC 2, was to find a connection between Saddam and this terrorist act. Clarke was dumb founded cause it was clear almost immediately that Al Qaeda was behind it. Still Bush and Cheney and Wolfowitz kept their blinders on....Hence the mess we are in now.

We need a Bobby Kennedy... there hasn't been anyone near to him when it comes to being in touch with the people of this country, and world events...present day politicians court big business and the wealthy, and lie through their teeth about everything else. It's plain as day Bush(and that goes for the Bush administration) is fighting Daddy's war. Let's see, what has Bush done for this country, nothing short of making Americans living targets at home and overseas. If we were hated before, we are despised now. Kennedy showed compassion...and was gunned down, like his brother. I'll also add Martin Luther King, these people had true vision for the people, for human dignity, and human rights...not for how can I shaft the poor to make myself richer, which seems to be the policy with this administration, just ask anyone who makes over 200,00.00 about therer tax breaks and loopholes. Guys, I respect you all way too much as musicians to be indulging in this kind of a discussion. It seems unhealthy to me and I wish to stop right now. I should not have participated in these political discussions and I deeply regret doing so. IP: Logged |
