Surfing the web just now, I came across a post to the IGS Forum, dated 11/13/2002, from Scott Jacobs (http://www.guitarseminars.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002133.html ). It contains several misconceptions which I feel I should clarify, for the benefit of Forum readers. First, I make no claim to have invented the concept of a washtub bass using an upright bass neck instead of the usual broom handle. Second, the Tub-O-Tone, which I did invent, does not use an upright bass neck. It uses a stationary but detachable mop handle, against which the string is fingered in traditional upright bass fashion. This and several other features make it a unique instrument. Third, I don’t market Tub-O-Tones, but I do sell the plans, for do-it-yourselfers; check it out at http://100megsfree2.com/tubotonia/TOTMain.html. Lastly, I’m a guy, not a gal.
