So, what's the heaviest gauge one would use for a roundneck resonator set up for lap-style playing? I have a John Morton single cone (biscuit). Since John spins his own cones, I don't know whether the cone strength would be similar to a National, but I assume it is. I was thinking of John Pearse new G - starts off with .018, .018, and ends with a .056. IP: Logged |

I think for the 1st string, anything heavier than 16 sounds tubby and misses treble. For the bass you can easily handle 59. I use 16 18 27 39 49 60 for tricone lap. IP: Logged |
