I finally got a website up. All comments and criticism are welcome. It's still under construction, but I have a few lessons and tabs posted. My goal is for it to be simple, intuitive, and easy to use. Check it out at:

I want to bump this one so that maybe some of you will have a look at the site. Don't be afraid to give constructive criticism. I can take it.

So, if you would, have a look at rickmckeon.com and let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Rick

Ok Rick, you asked.

The site seems like a good start.
The tabs are clear and big, everything easy to understand.
Not much multimedia, no sound, or film.
Its looks like you are soliciting beginning players, or almost beginning.
I went to download some of those tabs, and the download times are real long (I have dsl), and one download said 55 mins.--very slow compared to most sites.
It would be cool to showcase your talent a bit, so people could see how good you are.--play a clip of yourself doing a real smoker of a tune...
The background color is boring.
When someone goes to your site, it should open up with a blinding AZ sun, with you coming out of the sun and floating down to earth just wailing on your guitar.--Then when you land, you say "want to learn how to do this?"

These are just my opinions, I like the site overall!

Rick,

I was interested to hear and see the Death Creeping song on your website but it took forever to download the video. The video and sound quality were good but I wonder why it took so long to download. What is the size of the file? Have you considered posting the videos on YouTube? By the way, I like the way you play the song. I wish there was Internet when I was learning to fingerpick years ago (from Stefan Grossman's tabs).

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will see if I can reduce the file size of the video clips. Did you just watch them online or download to your machine?

I'm just starting to add content to the guitar side and hope to have more intermediate level songs up soon.

I'm wondering about the tabs. They are pretty small pdf files and should load quickly.

Thanks,
Rick

Watch them online?
I guess I dont know how to do that, I've never taken any windows courses. When I click on a button, it asks if I want to open in "realplayer", then it gives the download time. When I right click, I dont see any options to watch online, so then I dont have a clue.. The songs that you have written out(tab) do pop right up.--Its possible that you may need to explain to morons like me how to use your site...

Hey Ron,

Click on the song "Death Come Creeping" and when it asks if you want to use realplayer go ahead and try it just to see how long it really takes. On my machine it opens and starts to play right away even though it isn't completely downloaded.

Thanks for your feedback.
Rick

You know Rick, my computer is at least 4 years old. I may have problems not related to your site..
when I "opened" with real player, it took 7 minutes to download then said there was an error, and I should try saving to disk first, then open it.
I tried that, it took another 7 minutes, then said I needed an external application to "launch" it.
AND it said that if I was not expecting this message, that it might be an attempt to weaken the program, whatever that means.
Even though I bought this thing at a huge electronics store, when "vista" came out I started getting messages that I didn't have a authorized copy of windows or something, and that for a mere 150$ they would make it right....And slowly over time, it just hasn't worked that well, like sometimes people on the forum post pictures, that you need to click on a little box to get the picture, I usually cannot open it.
So while Im not the only person with a semi-screwed with computer, I dont think this is helping.

But, I can go on many other sites like Gerald Ross, Slide Planet, Howard Emmerson, etc, and listen to stuff w/o any wait time, or problems.
