So we had a workshop at our house. Mr Robin Kessinger-winner at Winfield and all kinds of flatpicking, bluegrass, and old time, events. A really fun night with one of the friendliest, approachable, down to earth guitar wizards you might want to meet. He threw down on a jig, a horn pipe, a reel, and some "crooked old time stuff" Beautiful single line playing. a bit out of my comfort zone, but I have my Django days so I could at least run the flat pick, Here's where it started to hurt. He'd get all six of us, half rhythm and half
lead going absolutely as fast as he could with us keeping it together, then jump in with sparkling paralell harmoney lines-some a third above, some another intervel. We tried to corner him about the rules and technique for playing these lines, and he hillbillied us with a response sort of like, "well, ye jes sorter find notes from the chord that fits nice and play em along".

This did not help my limited mind-as many of you know-you are in no danger of bumping into me coming out of a Mensa meeting. Any helpfull links or explanations of this technique would be greatly appreciated.

And while we're at it, lets have some fun, name three bands and the song they did that really showcased this trick...I'll go first:

Allmans-Jessica
Thin Lizzie-Boys are Back in Town
Deep Purple-Highway car.

Please expand

Also, I have been in possesion of an NRP accousto-electric 400 sound system for about a month now, and it has seen
use by my teenagers, by me, by a jam band, a small church praise band, and most recently by Robin and his singing partner Kate Long. I'll post much more later, but I'll tell you right now if you play out at all you really ought to take a long hard look and listen at this thing.
